A closer look at the design
In the photograph, groups of fine horizontal lines dissolve towards the sides. Pink also appears on the neck, shoulder stripes, crest and sponsor. The sleeves retain clearer blue areas.
This arrangement prevents the pattern from reading as a series of solid bands. Fine lines create vibration while allowing the background to breathe; the central column of symbols brings order to a busy surface.
