Cruz Azul return to a ground tied to their titles

Returning to Ciudad Universitaria revives memories of Cruz Azul’s trophies at that venue.

Context

The 2025 continental final ended in a 5-0 win over Vancouver. Ángel Sepúlveda scored twice as La Máquina claimed their seventh title in the competition. This Cruz Azul 2026/27 shirt is from 2026-27, after that final.

What comes next

The league title against Pumas followed at the same stadium in May 2026. Those milestones explain the significance of returning, but they do not predict the next meeting’s result.
